Representatives from Atlanta Massage School Attend American Massage Therapy Association Council of Schools Leadership Conference

Premier Atlanta massage school, Atlanta School of Massage, and AMTA Council of Schools share mission to promote excellence in massage therapy education.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) Feb 3, 2008 – Top Atlanta massage school, Atlanta School of Massage (atlantaschoolofmassage.com), recently attended the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) Council of Schools (COS) Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting January 24-26, 2008 at the Hilton Savannah Desoto in Savannah, Georgia.

Leticia Allen, owner of Atlanta School of Massage and former president of the Council of Schools, shares the mission of the AMTA Council of Schools: To promote excellence in massage therapy education. “We’re proud to have Laurie Craig, AMTA National Teacher of the Year, as our representative,” says Allen. “Networking with schools from across the US and Canada is one of the ways we stay abreast of current industry trends.” Melony Phillips-Gorin, Atlanta School of Massage teacher and COS member, was also in attendance.

This year’s meeting focused on teacher support and appreciation, as well as marketing and networking. There was an informative presentation by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. The Federation’s Massage Board Licensing Examination (MBLEX) has been adopted by the Georgia Board of Massage Therapy.

The Massage Therapy Foundation, whose primary purpose is to fund research studies in massage therapy, presented their newly-launched Journal of Acupuncture and Meridian Studies. The Journal of Acupuncture and Meridian Studies is a peer-reviewed, quarterly online journal featuring high-quality studies related to basic and clinical acupuncture and meridian research.
