Talented Teacher at One of Atlanta's Acclaimed Massage Schools Has Work Published in The Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies

Atlanta School of Massage Teacher, Tanya Fry, Combined Talents With Emory University Orthopedic Doctor In Case Study Involving The Effects Of Massage Therapy On A Complex Quadriceps Injury.

ATLANTA (November 20, 2005) - Tanya Fry, teacher for the acclaimed massage school, Atlanta School of Massage, jointly authored a massage therapy case study published in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies (2005) 9, 158-165. The case study involves the rehabilitation of a ruptured quadriceps tendon, further complicated by a post-operative wound infection and delayed surgical repair. The co-author of the article, Dr. John W. Xerogeanes, Department of Orthopedics, Emory University sustained the injury described in the article. Tanya Fry delivered massage therapy services as part of the rehabilitation effort. The case study emphasizes the importance of a 'team' of healthcare providers working in a coordinated effort to attain optimum recovery. In addition, it discusses the elements of the massage therapy component and how these are relevant to a complete pain free rehabilitation. The dramatic results of the study can be viewed at www.sciencedirect.com.

Tanya has over 25 years experience in sports, healthcare and fitness. Before beginning her successful massage therapy career, Tanya had a successful sports career, playing for both the US Women's Handball and Rugby teams. Since becoming a massage therapist in 1992, Tanya has worked with a wide variety of clients including Olympic and Professional athletes. She has also worked with various sports teams such as the US Women's '96 and '99 Pan-American Team Handball squads and most recently the Atlanta Beat women's professional soccer team. Tanya began teaching massage therapy courses in 1996 at Atlanta School of Massage where she continues to pass on her wisdom, knowledge and experience to the thousands of students who pass through their doors.
